Welton GamefulSam Barr had a vision back in 1961, when he bought a handsome bay T.B. foal from a sleepy corner of Lincolnshire.

Seen through an advert in Horse & Hound and chosen firstly for his bloodlines and secondly because of Sam's admiration for the wonderful mare Princess Grace (who was by the same sire as Gameful, Princess Game). She had an unequalled performance record, winning championships all the way through to eventually becoming a champion broodmare. She oozed presence and had the most wonderful gallop.Welton Crackerjack

Crackerjack was selected as a potential stallion being out of a half Irish Draught mare who bred 4 colt foals, all of which went to advanced and three were International event horses - all by Welton Gameful.

He became and still is the only 4* event stallion in the World to have sired the winners of the World's 3 most prestigious 4* three day events. It is now 56 years since the purchase of Welton Gameful and the beginnings of the "Welton Dynasty". In that time we have had highs and lows but through it all the friendships we have made through the horses and the contacts we have throughout the World have given us untold pleasure.Sam Barr

It is now time to open the next chapter with the young stallions we have coming along, which carry a strong percentage of Crackerjack blood. We still have the desire to continue to improving British event horse breeding. It is the best in the World and we have never diverted from our original belief that temperament and character are the two most important characteristics.
